Story of Varun: From Havoc to Growth

It can be devastating if not handled.

Hey ,

How much do you love your startup?

Immediate thought: What kind of question is that.

As the answer is quite simple, we are committed to it.

But what does your startup love?

You. But are you taking care of yourself?

This weekend I talked with Varun, a peer founder from the community about his “rollercoaster” phase of life.

The conversation was emotional and inspiring. (Reply To Connect)

He shared his story that many SUPER founders go through, so I decided to share it with you guys.

Here's his story, in his own words:

It all started with a subtle whisper—a feeling of unease that lingered at the edge of my thoughts, quietly warning me that something was amiss.

At first, I brushed it off as the normal stresses and strains of startup life, the inevitable challenges that come with building something from nothing. But as weeks turned into months, and months into years, that whisper grew louder, until it became an undeniable roar that echoed through every aspect of my life.

My startup began to falter under the weight of my negligence. Projects fell behind schedule, clients grew dissatisfied, and morale dropped as uncertainty and doubt crept into every corner of the office and my life.

Personally, I found myself grappling with mounting stress and unsuccessful endeavours.

But it wasn't until a sudden panic attack brought me to my knees that I was forced to confront the harsh reality of my neglect. I realized with startling clarity that my negligence towards my health had taken a serious toll on my well-being and my ability to lead effectively.

In the wake of that wake-up call, I made the difficult decision to step away from my responsibilities and took one month of bedrest, allowing my body and mind the time and space they needed to heal and rejuvenate.

It was during this period of rest and reflection that a colleague from Silicon Valley, Zach (if you are reading this, thanks brother), introduced me to WeBuidl, a community dedicated to conscious living and holistic well-being.

Through WeBuidl I discovered a wealth of resources and practices aimed at nurturing mind, body, and spirit. I immersed myself in yoga (it’s not that hard as many of us think), meditation, and mindfulness practices such as pranayama, Om chanting, and yoga nidra.

Meditation alone was not enough, I embraced a conscious dietary lifestyle, incorporating fresh fruits, intermittent fasting, and simple exercises into my daily routine.

Within just three weeks of incorporating conscious building practices into my life, I began to notice changes. My energy levels soared, my focus sharpened, and my performance as a founder reached new heights.

As my health improved, so too did the fortunes of my startup. And three months later, we proudly announced a $3 million funding round that catapulted us into the next phase of our journey.

I learned from my mistake and it has been 4 months since then and I’m at my best shape both physically (lost 20 pounds) and mentally (no more panic attacks).

So all I can say is thanks to WeBuidl for helping me in my bad phase to shaping me into completely new and conscious personality.

We founders mostly knows what’s best for us, it’s just about trying it out.

Thanks,

Varun
